European Nations Cup: the Swiss runners-up

The European Nations Championships were held in Givisiez this weekend, featuring the elite of our sport. The tournament lived up to expectations. Each of the teams gave every last drop of sweat to achieve victory, but as in every competition, there is a big winner and those who have gained experience.

The Swiss, although badly beaten by the Germans, had a very good tournament, conceding only one victory to the 'Mannschaft'. Sunday morning's match against the Danes was no picnic, but what would sport be without a touch of emotion? A 5-4 victory allowed the Swiss to qualify for the final.

The host of the competition had to pay the price for a decision taken for technical reasons, forcing the international federation to move the end of the tournament to Rossemaison; the teams had to reorganise the end of the day on the fly... One thing is certain, Givisiez was able to welcome this competition with fervour, and Rossemaison to compile with this last-minute request.

With all due respect to the editors, our national team finished 2nd in the championship, but starting a match late on Sunday evening and finishing in the early hours of Monday is a Herculean task. We wish all the players a good winter break.
